Fabric Roof Cover Installation - 6357 Style
IMPORTANT: Before attempting to adjust
the side roof rail weatherstrip, first check that
the body side glass is properly aligned and,
where necessary, adjust.
1. To adjust side roof rail weatherstrip in or
out, first determine and mark retainer at area or
areas to be adjusted.
2. Remove side roof rail weatherstrip.
3. Loosen retainer attaching screws slightly in
area to be adjusted and adjust retainer in or out
as required.
4. Tighten retainer attaching screws and install
side roof rail weatherstrip.
19. Fabric Roof Cover Assembly
The fabric roof cover is a vinyl-coated fabric
roof covering applied to the roof panel. A felt pad
is located between the fabric cover and roof panel.
The fabric covering is made of three parts with
center section dielectricaliy joined to side section
seams. The roof covering is attached at the wind-
shield and back window opening by drive nails.
Screws (or drive nails) are used at the belt line of
the rear quarter area. In addition, nitrile type
non-staining weatherstrip cement is applied to the
entire perimeter of the fabric roof cover.
On 6039 style, a flexible retainer secures the
roof cover inside the right and left drip moldings.
On 6357 style, the roof cover is retained at the
drip moldings by the roof panel side and rear
moldings, shown at C, Fig. 16-20.
a. Removal
1. The following parts must be removed prior
to removing the fabric roof cover:
a. Windshield assembly.
b. Back window assembly.
c. Windshield pillar finishing moldings.
d. Roof drip scalp moldings.
e. Rear quarter reveal moldings (at belt).
f. Roof extension panel emblem and/or plate
assembly.
g. Roof panel front, side and rear moldings on
6357 style.
2. Clean all excess sealer from windshield and
back window openings.
