produce 29 amps at this setting and 52 amp gen-
erator should produce 36 amps.
7. Increase engine speed to 2000 rpm. Genera-
tor output should be 41 amps or more on 42 amp
generator and 46 amps or more on a 52 amp gen-
erator. If generator does not come up to rated
output refer to Note 36 for further tests.
NOTE: If no circuit defects are found and
battery remains undercharged, the cause most
likely is a low voltage regulator setting. Check
regulator setting as outlined in Note 40.
34. Generator Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground strap.
2. Disconnect wires and connector from gen-
erator.
3. Remove generator link adjusting screw.
4. Remove front nut and washer from locating
stud on manifold.

6. Remove two cap screws that hold generator
support bracket to exhaust manifold.
7. Position generator away from support brace
and slide generator with support bracket off locat-
ing stud on manifold.
35. Generator, Disassembly
(Fig. 12-35)
a. Disassembly Into Individual Components
1. Remove four through bolts securing drive
end frame to slip ring end frame.
2. Separate drive end frame, with rotor, from
slip ring end frame, and remove. Be sure that
stator frame stays with slip ring end frame.
3. Remove brush springs, which will now be
loose.
5. Remove drive belt.
4. Cover roller bearing in slip ring end frame
