Configuring PROFINET components
To configure and analyze PROFINET components, Siemens Industry Online Support provides
the following tools free-of-charge:
● Primary Setup Tool (PST) on the Internet at the following address:
support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/67460624)
Using the Primary Setup Tool (PST), you can configure PROFINET components, e.g. you
can allocate the PN/PN coupler a device name.
● PRONETA on the Internet at the following address:
support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19440762)
PRONETA (PROFINET network analysis) is a PC tool to analyze PROFINET networks.

● The PN/PN coupler must be connected to the PROFINET interface X1 of the PPU.
● The PC must be connected with a crossover cable, e.g. via interface X2 on the PN/PN
coupler.
The device name must be configured in the following cases:
● When commissioning for the first time
● When a device is replaced
