Management Application Function
Management Connection
Identifies the type of routing used (STATIC or DYNAMIC). If STATIC is selected,
Management Connection allows the gateway network element to be identified. See also
IS-IS Routing.
Management Information Base (MIB)
The database in the network element. Contains the configuration data of the network
element. A copy of each MIB is available in the ITM-SC and is called the MIB image.
Under normal circumstances the MIB and MIB image of one Network Element are
synchronized.
Manager
Is capable of issuing network management operations and receiving events

Capable of issuing network management operations and receiving events. The Manager
communicates with the Agent in the controlled network element.
Manufacturer Executable Code (MEC)
Network element system software in binary format that is downloaded to one of the
stores can be executed by the system controller of the network element.
Mapping
Gathering together of payload data with overhead, i.e. packing the PDH signal into a
Virtual Container.
