Check timing chain
for damage and wear.

If there is damage or wear:
Change the timing chain.
Let the timing chain hang down freely. Check that the timing chain links move easily.

If the chain links no longer straighten out:
Change the timing chain.
Check timing chain guide rail

If there is damage or wear:
Change the timing chain guide rail.
Check timing chain tensioning rail
»
If there is damage or wear:
Change the timing chain tensioning rail.
Check timing chain sprocket

If there is damage or wear:
Change the timing chain sprocket.
Check camshaft gears
