3. Remove insulator to transmission extension bolts
(Figs. 6-16, 6-1 7 and 6-1 8).
4. Replace insulator and install insulator to transmis-
sion housing bolts. Tighten to 30 lb. ft.
5. Lower engine and transmission into position.
6. Install crossmember to insulator bolts and tighten to
40 lb. ft.
DRIVE BELTS
ADJUST
Engine fan and accessory drive belts may be adjusted by
use of belt tension gauge. Section 6A gives the correct
specifications for the various drive belts.
ENGINE
REMOVE
1. Disconnect battery cables at battery.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Scribe alignment marks on hood around hood hinges
and remove hood from hinges.
Disconnect coil, starter and generator wires, engine-
to-body ground strap, oil pressure and engine tem-
perature sender wires, and all external vacuum hoses.
Remove air cleaner.
Remove upper radiator shield assembly.
Disconnect radiator hoses and heater hoses at engine
attachment.
Remove engine fan.
Disconnect accelerator control linkage.
If equipped with power steering or air conditioning,
remove pump and compressor from mounting brack-
ets and set aside. Do not disconnect hoses.
Raise vehicle on hoist and drain crankcase.
Disconnect gas tank lines at fuel pump.
Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold.
Remove starter.
If 'equipped with automatic transmission, remove
converter cover, remove three converter retaining
bolts and slide converter to rear.
If equipped with manual transmission, disconnect
clutch linkage and remove clutch cross shaft.
