If Something Goes Wrong

The OS does not boot, or the OS bootup stops midway

There are a number of various factors, ranging from the hardware connection to the
installed OS status which could be causing the problem. Execute the following procedure
to isolate the problem. If this does not remedy the problem, proceed to
Windows NT/2000 is Unusable
on page 51.

Are all cables properly connected?

Is a floppy disk inserted in the floppy disk drive?

Are the jumper switches and other switches properly set on expansion cards and
peripheral devices?

Are expansion cards and the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) properly connected?

Is the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) formatted and properly set up?

Is the correct version of each device driver installed?

Is the server selected if a switch box is used on a rack server?

Windows NT/2000 is locked or cannot be used

Reboot the server. If Windows NT/2000 can be used after rebooting the server, proceed

If, after a system abort, the system cannot be started using the power button, unplug the
