Installing the BJ Cartridge in the Copier/Fax

When there is no BJ cartridge installed in the copier/fax, the LCD displays PUT IN
CARTRIDGE.
Follow this procedure to install the BJ cartridge:

Make sure the unit is plugged in.

Lift the document guides to open the
ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).
• If it does not open easily, slide the
document guides outward and then open
the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).
Alternatively, set the document feed lever to
a automatic document feed.

When you plug in the unit for
the first time, the cartridge holder
automatically moves to the center of
the unit so you can install the BJ
cartridge. If the cartridge holder is not
in the center, press C (inside the unit).

• Do not try to manually move or stop
the cartridge holder since this may
damage the unit.
• Do not touch the components
shown or any metal parts since this
may adversely affect operation of
the unit and/or affect print quality.
