Periodic Cleaning

Your copier/fax requires little periodic maintenance. This section describes the
necessary cleaning procedures for your copier/fax. Please note the following before
cleaning your unit:
• Be sure to disconnect the power cord before cleaning the copier/fax. Since
documents in memory are erased when the power is disconnected, print any
documents stored in memory before disconnecting the power cord. (1 p. 7-15)
• Do not use tissue paper, paper towels, or similar materials for cleaning; they can stick
to the components or generate static charges.
c
Never use volatile liquids such as thinners, benzene, acetone, or any other chemical
cleaner to clean the interior of the copier/fax; these can damage the copier/fax
components.

Cleaning the Copier/Fax's Exterior

Follow this procedure to clean the unit's outer casing:
1
Disconnect the power cord from the
copier/fax.
2
Wipe the unit's exterior with a clean, soft,
lint-free cloth moistened with water or
diluted dishwashing detergent solution.
3
When you are finished, reconnect the power
cord.

Cleaning the Copier/Fax's Interior

Cleaning Inside the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder)

To prevent ink spots and paper dust from accumulating inside the copier/fax and
affecting print quality, clean the unit's print area periodically.
Follow this procedure to clean inside the copier/fax:
1
