Shift Sorting - Reversing Mechanism
Paddle Roller
Solenoid
The paddle roller solenoid and reverse roller operate for even-numbered sets only
(sets 2, 4, 6, 8, etc of a multi-set copy job).
The reverse roller is not shown on this diagram. It is nearer to the jogger tray (to
the right side of the diagram).
The movement of the exit unit controls the movement of the paper (it can go to
the output tray or to the jogger tray). For details of the mechanism, click on the
link at the bottom of the slide.
Jogger tray: The exit unit goes up to feed paper to the jogger tray, then
goes down to feed the stack to the output tray
Output tray: The exit unit goes down
For odd-numbered sets,
each page is fed straight
out
For even-numbered sets,
each page goes back to the
jogger tray and is shifted to
one side
They are fed out later as a
set, shifted to one side.
The paddle roller solenoid
starts the paddle roller,
which sends paper back to
