The belt is always in contacts the K drum.
•
The belt can only be manually moved away from the K drum by turning
the release lever counterclockwise.
The belt contacts the CMY drums for color printing only.
•
If a black-and-white page is processed in the middle of a color job, the belt
does not move away from the CMY drums. This action would slow
productivity.
This mechanism allow for longer drum life and transfer belt life.
If a black-and-white page comes in the middle of a color job, the belt does not move
away from the CMY drums.
This keeps the printing speed at the maximum, because it takes time for the
motor to move the belt up and down.
If a color page appears in the same job after black-and-white pages, the machine waits
until the previous page has left the transfer unit. Then it moves the belt up against all
four drums.
