When the right tray is empty: Tray motor [A] and stack transport clutch [B] turn on.
This moves the rear fence [C], and the stack of paper goes from the left
tray to the right tray.
During paper feed, the clutch is always off. Because of this, the tray motor
does not try to push the stack from left to right.
The stack pushes the side fence [D] to one side, and the side fence sensor [E]
detects that the fence is open.
After the stack moves across, the side fence closes automatically (because of a
spring), and the sensor [E] detects that the fence is closed.
Then, the tray motor turns in the opposite direction, until the left fence home
position sensor [F] turns off.
