Chapter 3. Automatic Installation - Symbol WS5000 series Reference Manual

To perform an automatic configuration, the WS5000 Series Switch requires these components:
• An external TFTP server
• A command file – This is an ASCII text file that contains site-specific settings for the WS5000 Series
Switch (the file name must end with a .sym suffix). The name of the file is obtained via DHCP and stored
in the returned DHCP lease file.
Once extracted from the lease file, the configuration file is downloaded, parsed and the WS5000 Series
Switch is configured accordingly.
