Appendix C. PCI Adapter Placement

Each IBM NAS 300 engine contains five PCI adapter slots. Table 20 shows where
the PCI adapters should be installed. To use the table, look in the left column
Configuration to locate the row that contains the list of adapters installed (or to be
installed) in your engine. This row then shows where the adapters should be
installed.
Example 1: If you have a single Gigabit adapter (in addition to the standard Fibre
Channel installed in Slot-5), that adapter should be installed in slot-3.
Example 2: If you have four additional adapters—two 10/100 Ethernet adapters,
one Advanced Management, and one Gigabit Ethernet adapter – they should be
installed in the following PCI slots:
v Slot-1 — Advanced Management
v Slot-2 — 10/100 Ethernet
v Slot-3 — Gigabit Ethernet
v Slot-4 — 10/100 Ethernet
v Slot-5 — Fibre Channel (standard)
