4A-6 Brake Control System and Diagnosis:
Front Brake Hose and Pipe Removal and
Installation (GSX1300BKAK8)
CAUTION
!
• This brake system is filled with an ethylene
glycol-based DOT 4 brake fluid. Do not mix
different types of fluid such as silicone-
based or petroleum-based.
• Do not use any brake fluid taken from old,
used or unsealed containers. Never reuse
brake fluid left over from the last servicing
or stored for long periods.
• Handle brake fluid with care: the fluid
reacts chemically with paint, plastics,
rubber materials etc., and will damage then
severely.
Removal
1) Remove the fuel tank. Refer to "Fuel Tank Removal
and Installation in Section 1G in related manual".
2) Remove the air cleaner box. Refer to "Air Cleaner
Box Removal and Installation in Section 1D in
related manual".
3) Remove the throttle body. Refer to "Throttle Body
Removal and Installation in Section 1D in related
manual".
4) Move the radiator forward. Refer to "Radiator
Inspection and Cleaning in Section 1F in related
manual".
5) Drain brake fluid. Refer to "Brake Fluid Replacement
in related manual".
6) Remove the front brake hoses and pipes as shown
in the front brake hose routing diagram. Refer to
"Front Brake Hose Routing Diagram
(GSX1300BKAK8) (Page 4A-1)" and "Front Wheel
Speed Sensor Routing Diagram (GSX1300BKAK8)
(Page 4A-3)".
Installation
CAUTION
!
The seal washers should be replaced with the
new ones to prevent fluid leakage.
1) Install the front brake hoses and pipes as shown in
the front brake hose routing diagram. Refer to "Front
Brake Hose Routing Diagram (GSX1300BKAK8)
(Page 4A-1)" and "Front Wheel Speed Sensor
Routing Diagram (GSX1300BKAK8) (Page 4A-3)".
Repair Instructions
2) Bleed air from the front brake system. Refer to "Air
Bleeding from Brake Fluid Circuit in related manual".

3) Reinstall the removed parts.
Rear Brake Hose and Pipe Removal and
Installation (GSX1300BKAK8)
CAUTION
!
• This brake system is filled with an ethylene

Removal

3) Remove the front footrest bracket mounting bolts (1).
4) Remove the rear brake hoses and pipes as shown in
the rear brake hose routing diagram. Refer to "Rear
Brake Hose Routing Diagram (GSX1300BKAK8)
(Page 4A-4)" and "Rear Wheel Speed Sensor
Routing Diagram (GSX1300BKAK8) (Page 4A-5)".
