Chapter 12—Troubleshooting

12.1 Checklist

Description:
LED on printer does not light green when power is on.
Possible Cause of Problem and Suggested Measures:
• Is the LED on the power supply unit lit?
- If the LED is not lit, check that the power cord is properly connected
to a live wall socket and to the power supply.
• Is there 24 VDC at the printer side of the power supply unit?
- If not, replace the power supply unit. Do NOT attempt to repair.
• Bad connection between Main board and Feed switch PCB?
- Disconnect and reconnect cable a few times to rub of possible oxide.
• Feed switch PCB defect?
- Replace the Feed switch board and try again.
• Main board defect?
- Replace the Main board and try again.
Description:
LED on printer lights green but printer will not feed.
Possible Cause of Problem and Suggested Measures:
• Label taken sensor active, label not removed.
- Remove label or disable the label taken sensor using the Self Strip
command.
• Connection error between printer and host.
- Make sure correct type of interface cable is securely plugged into both
printer and computer.
Description:
Printer seems to be working but nothing is printed.
Possible Cause of Problem and Suggested Measures:
• Media faults (DT):
- Verify that the media is intended for direct thermal printing by testing
if the media is blackened by the heat from a hot object (+ 70°C/160°F
or more).
- Check that the heat-sensitive side faces the printhead.
• Ribbon faults (TTR):
- Verify that the printer is loaded with transfer ribbon and that the ink-
coated sided faces the receiving face material.
