RADIATOR

REMOVAL

Engine coolant may be harmful if swallowed or if it
comes in contact with the skin or eyes. If engine cool-
ant gets into the eyes or contacts the skin, flush the
eyes or wash the skin thoroughly, with plenty of water.
If engine coolant is swallowed, induce vomiting and
call a physician immediately.
The engine must be cool before servicing the cooling
system.
• Remove the seat, radiator covers and fuel tank. ("5-2)
• Drain engine coolant. ("13-3)
• Remove the radiator hoses.
• Remove the radiator louvers 1, left and right.
• Remove the radiators, left and right.

INSPECTION

RADIATOR
• Visually inspect the radiators and hose for damage.
• Fins bent down or dented can be repaired by straightening
them with the blade of a small screwdriver.
RADIATOR CAP
• Fit the cap to the radiator cap tester.
• Build up pressure slowly by operating the tester. Make sure
that the pressure build-up stops at 95 – 125 kPa (0.95 – 1.25
kgf/cm
, 14 – 18 psi) and that, with the tester held standstill,

the cap is capable of holding that pressure for at least 10 sec-
onds.
• Replace the cap if it is found not to satisfy either of these two
requirements.

Standard: 95 – 125 kPa
(0.95 – 1.25 kgf/cm

INSTALLATION

Install the radiators in the reverse order of removal.
• Connect the radiator hoses securely. ("19-24)
• Inspect the engine coolant level and leakage. ("2-15, -16)
