3.3.4 Free-run Mode

When using the freerun, programmable mode to control exposure, several guidelines must be
followed:
• The internal control signal must remain high for a minimum of 3 µs.
• The internal control signal must remain low for a minimum of 10 µs.
• The minimum internal sync signal period is 2 ms with the full AOI for the A504
ms for the A501
• If the AOI feature is being used, the minimum internal sync signal period is equal to
1/Maximum Frame Rate where the maximum frame rate is determined by the
formula on page 35.
Assuming that these general guidelines are followed, the reaction of the camera to a falling
ExSync signal will be one of four cases, which are described in sections 3.3.4.1, 3.3.4.2,
and 3.3.4.4.
The FlashOut signal can be set into a mode where it is high while the actual expo-
sure is active. This FlashOut mode is shown in the timing diagrams.

If the exposure starts and ends while Frame Valid is low:
• Actual length of exposure time = n µs (n = exposure set by Timer 1)
