Alternator
Alternator belt tension
Check the belt tension daily.
WARNING!
The engine must be stationary when checking the belt
tension, rotating parts can cause injuries.
Checking
Press the center between the fan pully and the alternator pully with
a force of 10 kgf. If the slack is 9.5 ~ 12.7 mm, the tension is nor-
mal.
Adjusting
The belt tension will be adjusted automatically by the auto tension-
er.
If the belt tension is abnormal, check for damage of the auto ten-
sioner, or belt specification.
Sensitivity of alternator
The alternator installation is sensitive to incorrect connection,
therefore, always follow the installation instructions below:
Disconnection
– Battery and alternator cables must not be disconnected while
the engine is running. A fault may then arise in the alternator
and the electronics.
– Disconnect and insulate the battery cables before carrying out
any work on the alternator equipment.
