H3C VG 31-08 Voice Gateway
The AC input end of the VG 31-08 is connected to an AC noise
filter whose neutral point is connected to the chassis directly, thus
forming a protection ground (PGND). The PGND must be connected
to earth ground properly to safely channel the faradic current and
leakage current to the ground and to make the whole device less
susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI). The lightning high
voltage introduced from the exterior network is also channeled to the
ground through the grounding cable.
The grounding screw of PGND is located on the rear panel.
Connect this screw to earth ground using a grounding cable. The
grounding resistance should not be greater than 5 ohm.

3.4 Connecting to the Console Terminal

I. Console port
The VG 31-08 provides a console port, through which you can
configure the device.
II. Console cable
The console cable is an 8-core shielded cable. At one end of the
cable is an RJ-45 connector that can be plugged to the console port of
the VG 31-08; at the other end is a DB9 (female) connector, which can
be plugged to the serial port of the console terminal.
The following figure illustrates a console cable:
