• Allow the shaft key (36) to extend 4.5 mm
(3/i6-in ch ) out of the bottom of the hub keyway
(figure 4).
• T h e s h a ft key (3 6 ) is cu rv e d
interference fit in the groove.
Im portant
• Do not drive or pound on the clutch hub or the
shaft (39). Internal d a m a g e to the com pressor
m ay result.
Clutch plate and hub assem bly (2) (figure 4).
• Install the clutch plate and hub assem bly (2)
over the com pressor shaft lining up the key
slot on the hub with the keyway slot in the
shaft.
• Install J 9 4 8 0 -B on the th readed end of the
shaft (figure 5).
• B ack off J 9 4 8 0 -B body to allow the center
screw to be th read ed against the end of the
com pressor shaft (39).
• Hold th e c e n te r screw with a w ren ch and
tighten the hex portion of J 94 80 -B body w hile
pressing the hub onto the shaft (39). After
tigh ten ing th e body several turns,
J 9 4 8 0 -B and ch eck that the shaft key (36) is
properly in place in the keyway.
• Air gap betw een contact surfaces of the clutch
plate and hub assem bly (2) and the pulley (6)
should be 0 .5 6 -1 .3 4 mm (0.022-0.057-in ch ).
• R em ove J 9480-B .

• Use J 9 3 9 6 to hold the clutch plate and hub

1. Clutch plate and hub assem b ly (2).
2. Pulley bearing retainer ring (3) with J 6 4 3 5 (figure 6).
3. Pulley (6).
I ? Inspect
• Position of the shaft (39) (even with or
slightly above the clutch hub).
assem bly (2).
Tighten
• Shaft nut (1) to 2 7 N m (20 ft. lbs.) with
J 9399.
• H and spin the pulley (6) to ch eck for free
rotation.
