DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENT

1.Stop the engine, and remove the spark plug cap.
2.Adjust the handlebar height to the third hole from the bottom (see
page 22).
3.Adjust the clutch cable (see page 41).
Remove the belt cover. Hold the clutch lever in the ENGAGED
position. Pinch the upper and lower parts of the belt together with
both hands five or six times.
Belt tension is correct when the distance from the top of the belt to
the top of the tension roller is 1 3/4—2 in (45—50 mm) when the
clutch is engaged.
4.To adjust, loosen the four engine mounting bolts and the two belt
stopper attaching bolts (front side), and move the engine forward or
backward to get proper tension on the belt.
