Pass Through Communication

Pass Through Communication provided by NBManager allows the PLC programming software on PC to
connect the PLC directly via HMI. In this case, HMI functions just as the converter, so the user can
monitor or modify the PLC via HMI, and the PC can perform the upload and download of PLC program
via the transmission cable connected to the HMI.
Pass Through Communication supported by NB-Designer currently refers to the pass through
communication function applicable to the serial connection. The connection is as shown below.

Please set the Source port and Destination port during the connection. Source port refers to the serial
port of PC for connecting HMI, while the Destination port refers to the serial port of HMI for connecting
the PLC.
Take the communication between OMRON CP1H and NB5Q as example, and the operation procedures
are as follows:

Open the NBManager and select Pass Through Communication.

Select USB port as the control type of pass through. Serial port doesn't support the pass
through communication. USB port is used to control the start and end of the pass through com-
munication.

Set the Source port and Destination port, as shown above.

The communication parameters are consistent with the internal parameters in OMRON CP1H.
