Use a gauge to measure the air
pressure in each tyre at least once a
month. Even tyres that are in good
condition may lose 10 to 20 kPa (0.1
to 0.2 kgf/cm , 1 to 2 psi) per month.
Remember to check the spare tyre at
the same time.
Check the air pressure when the
tyres are cold. This means the
vehicle has been parked for at least
three hours, or driven less than 1.6
km (1 mile). Add or release air, if
needed, to match the recommended
cold tyre pressures on the label on
the driver's doorjamb.
If you check air pressures when the
tyres are hot [driven for several
kilometers (miles)], you will see
readings 30 to 40 kPa (0.3 to 0.4
kgf/cm , 4 to 6 psi) higher than the
cold readings. This is normal. Do not
let air out to match the
recommended cold air pressure. The
tyre will be underinflated.
