DTC P0500
Vehicle speed signal
• The PCM monitors the CAN input signal from DSC HU/CM. If the input signal is not correct, the PCM
determines that there is a CAN input signal.
Diagnostic support note
• The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or
DETECTION
in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
CONDITION
• PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive
cycle.
• FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
• The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
• DSC HU/CM malfunction
POSSIBLE
• PCM malfunction
CAUSE
Diagnostic procedure
STEP
1
VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN
RECORDED
• Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION
AVAILABILITY
• Verify related service repair information
availability.
• Is any related repair information available?

VERIFY CURRENT INPUT SIGNAL STATUS: IS
CONCERN INTERMITTENT OR CONSTANT?
• Connect the WDS or equivalent to the DLC-2.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using
the WDS or equivalent.
• Start the engine.
• Is the PENDING CODE for this DTC present?

INSPECT DSC HU/CM
• Inspect the DSC HU/CM.
• Is there any malfunction?

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P0500
COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected
connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using
the WDS or equivalent.
• Start the engine.
• Is the PENDING CODE same as the DTC
present?

VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform the Repair Verification Drive Mode.

• Are any DTCs present?

Brake switch signal correlation malfunction
• The PCM monitors the input signal from brake switch 1 and brake switch 2 while the engine is running. The
PCM determines the brake switch signal correlation malfunction if the input signal from brake switch 1
brake switch 2 is as follows:
— Brake switch 1 is on and brake switch 2 is off.
DETECTION
— Brake switch 1 is off and brake switch 2 is on.
CONDITION
Diagnostic support note
• The MIL does not illuminates.
• The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

then go to the next step.
Yes Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available
repair information.

Perform the "INTERMITTENT CONCERNS
TROUBLESHOOTING".

Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning part, then go to the
