WHAT TO DO IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

IF YOU CANNOT MAKE COPIES AS YOU WANT

This section explains the causes and user actions you should take when you cannot
make copies as you want.
Problem
Copies are not
stapled.
Staples are wrongly
positioned.
Misfeeds occur
frequently.
You cannot combine
several functions.
Pages are split
when they are
sorted.
A void image oc-
curred during the
Erase Border or
Erase Center/Bor-
der function.
A void image is
found.

Cause
There are jammed staples
in the stapler.
Originals are not set cor-
rectly.
Copy paper size setting is
not correct.
Selected functions cannot
be used together.
The number of originals
exceeded 50 pages.
The erase width is too
large.
Failed to read the correct
original size.
The originals are not set
properly.
The margin is too large.
Too narrow a margin on
the side opposite to the
binding side.
Action
Remove jammed staples. See ⇒ P.90 "IF A
STAPLE IS JAMMED."
Set originals so that the top of the originals is aligned
with the original guide. See ⇒ P.30 "SORT/
STACK/STAPLE."
Set the proper paper size. See ⇒ P.86 "CHANG-
ING A PAPER SIZE."
Refer to the combination chart and reselect. See
⇒ P.70 "COMBINATION CHART."
The number of copy sheets you can store in a bin is
50. If the number of copies to be generated is 9 or
less and each copy contains more than 50 pages,
the pages are split into two bins and the extra pages
are stored in the lower bin.
Reset the erase width to a smaller value. See ⇒
P.60 "ERASE BORDER" and P.61 "ERASE CEN-
TER/BORDER."
Set the originals correctly.
Set the originals so that the binding part is located
at the center of the paper.
Reset the binding margin to a smaller value. See
⇒ P.64 "MARGIN ADJUSTMENT."
