Theparitydecideshowthefirmwarewillcheckfortransmission
errors.Therearefouroptions:
·None(default)
·Even
·Odd
·Space
Stop Bits
Thenumberofstopbitsspecifieshowmanybitswilldefinethe
endofacharacter.Therearetwooptions:
·1(default)
·2

Protocol

XON/XOFF (default)
IntheXON/XOFFprotocol,dataflowcontrolisachievedby
usingXON(DC1)andXOFF(DC3)characters.Messageblocks
arenotrequiredtobebracketedbytheStartofText(STX)and
EndofText(ETX)characters.However,atpoweruporaftera
resetallcharactersexceptENQorVTwillbeignoreduntilan
STXisdetected.Themessagelengthinthisprotocolis
unrestricted.Thatis,theprinterprocessesinformationasitis
beingdownloadedandstopswhenthereisnomoreinformation.
XON/XOFFprotocolconformstogenerallyacceptedindustry
standards.Noend-of-messageresponseissenttothehostother
thanXOFF.AnXONwillbesentonpowerup.
SinceDC1andDC3areusedfordataflowcontrol,theprinter
statuscharactersaredifferentthanthoseoftheStandard
Protocol.Ifthehostignorestheprinter'sXOFF,theprinterwill
resendanXOFFafterreceivingevery15charactersfromthehost.
