Application-Controlled Paper-Source Selection

This section describes the identifiers to use in selecting the various available paper
sources on the 4247 printer for key coax and twinax applications. These selections
will cause the appropriate forms path selection commands to be sent to the printer
from the host applications. There is also a way, for SCS only, to have the forms
path selected at the printer operator panel, rather than through the data stream.
See "Override Host" on page 112 for information on this option.

PSF Usage - S/390 and AS/400

In the S/390 PSF's (PSF/MVS
is identified in the FORMDEF, using the appropriate Media ID number as defined
in the following sections. The FORMDEF can also be used in AS/400 PSF and uses
these same Media ID numbers.
Paper Source Identification (Media IDs)
Continuous Forms Or Combination Forms Feeding: 'Continuous Forms Feeding'
uses either the front forms path or the rear forms path. Front paths use the forms
that are fed into the front of the printer, and utilize the forms tractor installed in
the Front Push, Rear Pull, or Push-Pull configuration. The rear paths utilize forms
fed through the rear of the printer. The forms tractor is installed in the Rear Push
tractor configuration.
'Combination Forms Feeding' applies to one of the following printer
configurations:
1. Dual continuous forms (both front push and rear push path in use)
2. Automatic cut-sheet plus continuous forms
This is the common usage mode for the 4247. These identifiers should be used in
all configurations, except those exclusively using the Automatic Sheet Feeder. See
"Automatic Sheet Feeding Only (Compatibility Mode)" on page 363 for how to
identify forms in the host application in that configuration.
In this configuration, the 4247 paper sources are identified by the host application
as follows:

The 4247 may be run in native (4247) mode or in an emulation mode (something
other than 4247).
