CHAPTER 3: CONNECTING TO DEVICES AND NETWORKS
D.20 RIO - HARDWARE USER'S MANUAL
Redundant D.20 RIO configurations are not supported by D400 firmware version 3.20.
When using D400 firmware version 3.20, only connect the peripherals in a Single D.20 RIO
configuration.

GE Information
D.20 LINK
Description
This is the most basic
configuration option. This
scenario offers no redundancy in
the event of D.20 RIO failure. In
the event a D.20 Link failure
occurs, the D.20 RIO will lose
communications with all
peripherals positioned downlink
from the interruption.
D.20 link port A is connected to
the first peripheral, and all
subsequent peripherals are
daisy-chained. The D.20 Link is
terminated at the final
peripheral with a Terminator (GE
part number 977-0049).
Note: Daughter boards (GE part
number 540-0207 for D20 A,S,
and K boards; GE part number
540-0209 for the D20 C board)
may optionally be installed in the
peripherals to provide HDLC
interface redundancy and to
provide protection against the
isolated failure of a single pair of
wires running through the
peripheral link cable.
Description
This scenario is the same as the
Single D.20 RIO Terminated
layout with the addition of a
connection between the final
peripheral and D.20 link port B
on the D.20 RIO.
This layout ensures that D.20
Link communications are
maintained to all peripherals in
the event that a break in the
D.20 link occurs between
peripheral modules.
Note: Daughter boards (GE part
number 540-0207 for D20 A,S,
and K boards; GE part number
540-0209 for the D20 C board)
are not supported for this
scenario and must be removed
from all peripherals.
