9.1.1 General description of navigation in the PLM

The majority of PLM functions can be controlled and/or monitored via the front-panel LCD display screen
and associated switches and LEDs.
The control system has two basic modes: METER MODE and MENU MODE. METER mode has four
possible views, called HOME VIEW, MODULE VIEW, TEMPERATURE VIEW and INPUT VIEW. Each view
offers different information about the PLM's configuration. The four views , shown in figure 9.1 below, can
be scrolled through using the METER button.

The PLM always powers up in METER MODE, HOME VIEW. See section 9.11 for full details of the three
METER MODE views.
MENU MODE is selected by pressing the MENU button. The screen display changes to the "top page" of
the menu "tree", which lists the various submenus available. Select the required submenu by pressing the
soft button adjacent to it. In some cases parameter adjustment is presented immediately; in other cases,
intermediate submenus are presented first. When parameters are available, adjustment is made using the
rotary encoder. See section 9.12 for a full description of MENU MODE and the various submenus available
therein.
Warnings about fault conditions or other extreme operating states are given primarily by the tricolor LEDs
within the eight soft function buttons around the screen; a simultaneous textual description is shown on the
