Storing the battery

G
WARNING
Deep battery discharge can cause an inter-
nal short circuit. The battery heats up to an
extremely high temperature. There is a risk
of fire.
Avoid deep battery discharge during use
R
as well as during storage.
When not in use, fully charge the battery
R
at regular intervals, and at least every
6 months.
Do not carry a deeply discharged battery
R
on the ebike.
Please observe the following if you do not
use the ebike or the battery for long peri-
ods:
do not store the battery at temperatures
R
below -10 † (14 ‡) or above 45 † (113 ‡).
do not expose the battery to temperature
R
fluctuations. The ideal storage temper-
ature is between 10 † (50 ‡) and 25 † (77
‡).
protect the battery from moisture to pre-
R
vent corrosion around the electrical
contacts. Store the battery in a dry place.
do not store the battery near flammable
R
materials.
disconnect the battery from the charger
R
between charging cycles.

Belt drive

Important safety notes

G
WARNING
If you install or handle the drive belt
incorrectly, e.g. if you bend or twist it, you
may cause damage that is not visible from
outside. This type of damage to the drive
belt can cause it to tear unexpectedly,
causing you to slip off the pedals. There is
a risk of accident and injury.
Handle the drive belt with utmost care
R
and follow the instructions for use.
Have a damaged drive belt replaced
R
immediately at a qualified specialist
workshop.
When handling the drive belt, avoid:
kinking it in any direction
R
twisting it
R
turning it inside out
R
reverse bending
R
tying or binding it up with cable ties or
R
cord
using it as a tool
R
mounting the drive belt by applying ten-
R
sion with a lever or by turning the foot
pedal
Your smart ebike is fitted with an innova-
tive drive belt, the Carbon Drive belt. It is
a virtually maintenance-free system that
does not require re-tensioning or lubri-
cating when fitted and handled correctly.
Handle this product with the utmost care to
avoid damaging the carbon fibres embed-
ded into the belt.
Carbon fibres can withstand high tensile
stress, but are sensitive to bending loads,
shearing force, nicking and impact. Even
though the belt's carbon fibres are
sheathed, it is still extremely important
to handle the Carbon Drive with care.
Incorrect handling results in damage to the
carbon fibres inside the drive belt. This
type of damage to the drive belt can cause
the belt to tear suddenly under load during
a ride.
Never use a drive belt that has been dam-
aged.
Riding in ice and snow
G
WARNING
The belt pulleys can become clogged when
riding the bike on ice and snow or clay mud.
