Determining the number of rings before the answering machine
starts
You can set when (after which number of rings) you want the answering machine to
activate. The options are: 1 ring tone, 2 ring tones, ..., 9 ring tones. Instead of a fixed
number of rings you can also use the cost-saving setting Automatic 2/4 (factory
setting). In this setting the answering machine activates automatically:
after 2 rings if there are new messages,

after 4 rings if there are no new messages.

When operating remotely (page 57) you then know that if the telephone rings three
times there are no new messages (otherwise the answering machine would already
have cut in). There will be no call charges if you hang up now.

message/memo is played back (activated when supplied).
