CHOOSING THE DATA TYPE
The menu item Scale to Active is only available if you are in 2D Display Mode
and have chosen to overlay a number of traces: see Overlay later in this section.
For more details on data displays see The Data Window next. For more details on the
use of x-, y-, and data-axes in data displays see Axes later in this section.
The Data Window
A Data Window is launched automatically if you access data that you have
previously stored, if you make a new data acquisition, or if you use the
Andor Basic
programming language to create a new Data Window.
Newly acquired data will always be displayed in a Data Window labeled '#0
Acquisition'. This is in effect the 'live' Data Window. In the User's Guide, this
type of Data Window is often referred to as an Acquisition Window.
Should you decide to save data from the Acquisition Window, the Acquisition
Window will remain on screen and a new Data Window, labeled with your new
filename, will appear. As with all Data Windows, this new Data Window is marked
with a number, #n, which uniquely identifies at any given time the data set that is
being displayed or manipulated in the Data Window. The value of #n is temporary
(it ceases to be associated with the data when they are no longer being displayed)
and its value depends on the order in which you open and close your data sets.
#n is particularly important for identifying sets of data that have not been saved to
file and whose data set name is simply 'Untitled Document' - a Data Window and its
contents can, for example, be created directly by means of
. Moreover,
Andor Basic
#n remains constant for a given set of displayed data even if you create several views
of the data in separate Data Windows (see Add Data Window later in this section).
These multiple views are differentiated by a :x suffix to the data set name, where x is
a number.
When you retrieve data which you have previously stored, they will be displayed in a
Data Window labeled #n and bearing the name of the retrieved file. Along the
