SETTING THE AQUISITION
Spooling
Spooling a computer document or data file is the process of reading it and storing
it in a buffer, normally on a hard disk, so it can be printed or otherwise processed at
a more convenient time. The Andor MCD software allows you to spool acquisition
data direct to the hard disk of your PC. This is particularly useful when taking a
large series of Kinetic Images. The amount of data generated by a Kinetic series of
say, 1000 acquisitions, is huge, and more than most PC RAM can handle.
With the spooling function enabled, data is written directly to the hard disk of you
PC, as it is being acquired.
Spooling Dialog Box
To enable the spooling function on your software, check the Enable Spooling
button on the Spooling Dialog Box. You must also enter a stem name, and also
select a location for the for this spooled data file.
Please note: Spooling requires a very fast hard disk, if you are to make full use of
this function. We recommend a very fast hard disk for this type of operation.
