computer uses the same number of colors (as it used for rescaling)

In Summary...
• Larger displayed data range: less contrast

Smaller displayed data range: greater contrast
• Displayed data range covers higher values: darker display
• Displayed data range covers lower values: brighter display
The Add Data Window item on the Display Menu opens a submenu from which
you may create additional views of data that are already on screen in an active Data
Window. Each of the items on the Add Data Window submenu (see below) launches
an additional Data Window in which the active data are presented in the display
mode of your choice.
