Each additional Data Window, which bears the same # number as the active Data
Window used to create it, is further identified by an extension (:2, :3, etc.) to the title
on the window's title bar. The original Data Window adopts the extension :1. The
original and the additional Data Window(s) let you see and manipulate the same
underlying set of data: for example, making a new acquisition (see SECTION 4.4
DATA ACQUISITION - Making an Acquisition) while a 'family' of Acquisition
Windows is on screen, will cause the display in each Acquisition Window to be
updated.
Additional Data Windows are available, from the Add Data Window submenu, in
the following Display Modes: 2D, 3D, Image.
If Always Maintain Aspect Ratio is selected on the Display Preference Dialog
Box, special 'fixed aspect' Zoom In and Zoom Out buttons appear on the Data
Window. Clicking these buttons causes the scales on both the vertical and horizontal
display axes to stretch or shrink proportionately to one another, giving the
impression of zooming in towards or zooming out from the image, while maintaining
the original proportions of the image.
If Always Maintain Aspect Ratio is deselected, you will see separate Zoom In
and Zoom Out buttons for both the vertical and the horizontal axes. The buttons
allow you to stretch or shrink the scale on either the x- or y-axis, creating the effect
of Zooming In or Zooming Out in either the vertical or horizontal dimension. See
also Zooming In, Zooming Out and Scrolling previously.
You may also 'zoom' an image by drawing a Zoom Box (hold down the primary
mouse button and pull the cursor in a diagonal across the screen) around the area that
you are interested in. Release the mouse button to perform the zoom operation. The
image will zoom to show the selected area in greater detail.
'zoomable' area is 30 x 30 pixels. If you have selected Always Maintain Aspect
Ratio, you may find that an area slightly larger than the zoom box has been
