PCL4 Emulation

Connecting to a Computer
PC Printing & Scanning
PCL4 emulation provides 300 dpi resolution which is adequate for printing text. If
you are printing a document that contains several graphics, you might prefer to
use the GDI driver, which provides a higher (600 dpi) resolution or the PCL5e
option. See "GDI Printer Feature" on page 6-11 for details.
Follow these instructions to install the cables.
Never connect or disconnect cables with the power to either unit ON.
1
Close all the open programs on the PC.
2
Be sure power to the computer and the fax unit are OFF.
3
Connect the parallel cable to the parallel connector on your unit.
4
Connect the other end of the cable to the parallel port on the PC.
5
Turn power ON to both the computer and the fax machine.
Static electricity can degrade your fax unit operations and/or damage
the unit. When the cable is not connected to your fax unit, cap the
connector to guard against static electricity.
