Chapter 5
IOPn.Diskx Reset Partition
Warning: Using this command may cause the disk to become the target of a
mirror copy. Read all instructions in this section before
continuing.
This command is used to:
•
Correct problems with the data in the partition on a mirrored disk
•
Reset a partition on an improperly created replacement disk
If a disk's state is offline for no apparent reason, and it is not the target of a mirror set copy,
check the event log for messages indicating invalid data on the partition. If you find any such
messages, you can use this command to take corrective action. However, using this command
may cause the disk to become the target of a mirror set copy.
Use this command to recover from failures resulting from invalid data on the partition. After
you successfully reset the partition, the disk may become the target of a mirror set copy.
This command only operates on a properly partitioned drive. That is, only errors resulting from
invalid data in the partition are corrected. Errors resulting from improper partitioning are not
corrected. To correct such problems, use the Disk Administrator to repartition and reformat the
disk. (Repartitioning and reformatting results in unrecoverable data loss on the disk to be
reformatted.) After you repartition and reformat the disk and reboot the IOP, the disk becomes
the target of a mirror set copy.
For instructions about how to replace a disk, refer to
236.
