104 Catalytic converter, exhaust emissions

Lights up for a few sec onds when ig nition is
switched on.
If the light comes on when the engine is
running, there is a fa ult in the engine
electronic s. The electronic s switch to the
emergency running prog ra mme, fuel
consump tion ma y increase and the
driveability of the vehicle m ay be affected.
In some cases the fault can b e eliminated
by switching the engine off and back on
again. If the control indicator lights up
again when the eng ine is running , consult a
workshop to have the cause of the fault
elim inated. We recom mend y our Vauxhall
Authorised Repairer.
Diesel partic le filter

Even during norm al use, there is still a
possibilty that the diesel particle filter m ay
become partially blocked . The filter is
autom atic ally cleaned under certain
driving conditions, however w hen 8 is
illuminated the diesel particle filter requires

Warning
Before attem pting regeneration of the
diesel particle filter, ensure road
conditions will a llow the vehicle to safely
travel at speeds in ex cess of approx.
40 mph (60 k m/h) for up to 20 minutes.

To car ry out regeneration
With the engine at normal operating
temperature, maintain an av erage speed
of approx. 40 mp h (60 km/h) until 8 goes
out. In some cases this can take up to 20
minutes.
Failing to achiev e these sp eeds or an
interuption to your journey ma y prevent
regeneration taking place. The
regeneration process will then need to be
restarted.
If 8 fails to extinguish or 8 illuminates in
conjunction with A , c onsult a workshop to
have the cause of the fault elimina ted. We
recommend your Vaux hall Authorised
Repairer.
