INSPECTION PROCESS

• Dealer shall make all TCUVs available for periodic inspections
by inspectors chosen by TMS during regular business hours
without prior notice to dealer. See paragraph 5C of the Dealer
Participation Agreement for complete details.
• A random sample of TCUVs on display will be chosen for inspection,
including a test-drive by the inspector, using grading standards
specified by TMS.
• Results of inspections will be reviewed with a member of dealership
management upon completion of the inspection.
• Inspected vehicles will be graded into one of the following three
categories, which also determines appropriate action to be taken
by the dealer:
– "Pass" — Vehicle has passed TCUV certification standards.
Dealer Action Required: None.
– "Fail" — Vehicle was found to have items that do not meet TCUV
standards. Typically, these items are repairable and if repaired
correctly will result in restoring the vehicle to a passing score.
Dealer Action Required:
1) Remove vehicle from TCUV display area.
2) Repair items to meet TCUV standards.
3) Return vehicle to TCUV display area.
– "Recommend Decertification" — Inspector will recommend to the
Regional TCUV Manager that a particular vehicle be decertified
(TCUV eligibility voided) because vehicle does not meet basic
eligibility requirements covering items that cannot be repaired,
e.g., frame or unibody damage, excessive body damage, flood
damage, etc. See Vehicle Eligibility tab and/or Explanation
of Structural (Frame/Unibody) Damage and Explanation of
Excessive Body Damage behind Mechanical Standards tab. If
a vehicle is recommended for decertification by the inspector or
Regional TCUV Manager, the dealership General Manager will
be advised by the Region in writing of such decertification and
required dealer actions. Dealer shall:
1) Remove all materials identifying vehicle as a TCUV.
2) Advise sales staff that vehicle is no longer a TCUV and cannot
be demonstrated/sold as a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle.
3) Remove vehicle from Actions Required: the segregated TCUV
display area.
