Many brake pads can be measured without removing wheels.
Check for excessive damage, such as dents or pulled seams that
expose unplated metal, extreme rust or exhaust leaks.
Inspect for oil leaks from CV joint boots.
Let engine idle and check for oil leaks. Inspect all brake fittings
and hoses for brake fluid leaks.
Some vehicles use hypoid gear oil while others may use ATF.
Check for signs of moisture.
