hard zone
A hard zone is a division of the fabric for
the purposes of controlling discovery and
inbound traffic.
HBA
Host Bus Adapter
Heartbeat LED
A switch LED that indicates the status of
the internal switch processor and the
results of the Power On Self Test.
IFZ
An IFZ (inter-fabric zone) enables
controlled and limited access between
devices on a local fabric and devices on a
remote fabric of other vendor switches. An
IFZ contains three WWN members: the
local device, the remote device, and the
TR_Port attached to the remote fabric.
IKE (Internet Key Exchange)
A means to automatically create an IPsec
SA on both SA endpoints.
IKE Peer
An external device accessible through the
management Ethernet interface on the
switch.
IKE Policy
An object used to describe the type (e.g.,
Telnet, FTP) of user data traffic that you
want to secure for a given IKE peer.
inactive firmware
The firmware image on the switch that is
not in use.
in-band management
The ability to manage a switch through
another switch over an inter-switch link.

initiator
The device that initiates a data exchange
with a target device.
Input Power LED
A switch LED that indicates that the switch
logic circuitry is receiving proper DC
voltages.
Inter-Switch Link (ISL)
The connection between two switches
using E_Ports.
Internet Key Exchange (IKE)
A means to automatically create an IPsec
SA on both SA endpoints.

Loop Initialization Primitive sequence

Logged-in LED
A port LED that indicates device login or
loop initialization status.

Logical Unit Numbers

A momentary button on the switch used to
reset the switch or place the switch in
maintenance mode.

Sets the IP address to 10.0.0.1 and
provides access to the switch for mainte-
nance purposes.
