Tape Playback Using the
Indices
Available mode: TAPE-VCR
The initial parts of each recording on a tape
can be automatically recorded on the card to
make an index list. It is also possible to
manually add the desired scene to the index
list. You can then easily select the playback
start position from the list display.
Creating Indices

Insert the recorded Mini DV cassette
and a card in the camcorder.

Set the camcorder to TAPE-VCR mode,
and then rewind the tape to the begin-
ning.

Touch [1/3] until the [3/3] screen
appears.

Touch [INDEX] to display the INDEX
screen.

Touch [AUTO].
• Fast forward search and still playback of
the tape are repeatedly performed, and
the initial parts of the scenes are
recorded on the card in order.

Note: To cancel creating indices, touch

When the camcorder finishes creating the
indices, the AUTO INDEX screen auto-
matically turns off.
Notes:
• Maximum of 60 indices can be created for one
tape.
• It is possible to create indices for multiple tapes
on a single card.
• It may not be possible to create 60 indices
depending on the available storage capacity of
the card.
• It may not be possible to create an index for a
short scene having a recording time of about 30
seconds or less.
Caution:
• Do not turn the power off or remove the card
while creating indices, as this may result in
deletion of images on the card or damage to the
card itself.
