NOTE
If you have a non-PCI Hot-Plug board in one of the PCI Hot-Plug slots, the PCI board will show
up on the NOS software utility's display. But the NOS utility will not allow you to power down
the PCI board's slot.
7. If not, go back to the PCI Hot-Plug utility and verify you have turned off power to the correct slot.
8. If you are unable to power down the slot, go to the non-hot-plug installation procedure to remove and install
the PCI board in the hot-plug slot.
CAUTION
Do not continue with this procedure if you are unable to turn off power to the PCI Hot-Plug slot.
You will cause damage to the PCI Hot-Plug board and to the slot.
9. Do not continue with this procedure if you are unable to power down the Hot-Plug slot.
NOTE If the PCI board has a cable attached to it (disk controller, NIC, etc.), label the cable for
identification later when connecting the cable to the new or replacement PCI board.
10. If the PCI board has a cable attached to it, label it before continuing.
11. Remove any cables attached to the PCI board.
12. Use a T-15 driver or Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw holding the PCI board bracket to the system
rear panel. See Figure 6-17.
CAUTION When handling electronic components, wear a wrist strap and use a static-dissipating work
surface connected to the chassis when handling components. Ensure the metal of the wrist strap
contacts your skin.
