Chapter 1
troubleshooting the hp workstation j6000
To determine which systems are causing problems, run:
/opt/graphics/OpenGL/sv/bin/setpipes -test
Each number in the test program matches one of the slave nodes. For
example, if rectangle #3 is black, do the following steps on the SV3 (slave
node #3).
If nothing appears on the display, the problem is likely on the master
system. Proceed to the "Troubleshooting Tree."
1. To isolate the problem, configure your suspect system to run as a
stand-alone Workstation. To temporarily configure this way:
• Go to init level 2 on the master node
• Log in to the suspect system
• Execute:
cd /etc/X11/
cp X0screens tmp.X0screens
• Then edit the /etc/X11/X0screens file to contain only the following
line:
Screen /dev/crt
• Un-comment the following lines in the /etc/X11/X0devices file:
NULL first keyboard
NULL first pointer
• Go to init level 3 on the suspect Workstation.
2. Reboot the suspect Workstation(s).
3. If the problem persists, report a Workstation or HP-UX configuration
problem to HP Support.
4. If the problem disappears on a stand-alone configuration, proceed to
Section 1 of the "Troubleshooting Tree," then submit a 3D SLS/d
problem with Hewlett-Packard as directed by your current HP
Support Contract.
