Optimizing the Exchange Gateway

1 0
You can adjust how the Exchange Gateway functions in order to optimize its performance. Before
attempting optimization, you should run the Exchange Gateway long enough to observe its
efficiency and its impact on other network applications running on the same server. See
"Monitoring the Exchange Gateway," on page
Also, remember that optimizing your network hardware and operating system can make a difference
in Exchange Gateway performance.
The following topics help you optimize the Exchange Gateway:
Section 10.1, "Adjusting the Gateway's Send/Receive Cycle," on page 103
Section 10.2, "Adjusting the Number of Sender and Receiver Threads," on page 105
Section 10.3, "Automating Network Reattachment," on page 105
Section 10.4, "Reducing Network Traffic," on page 106
10.1 Adjusting the Gateway's Send/Receive
Cycle
The Exchange Gateway's send/receive cycle determines how much time the gateway spends
sending messages as opposed to receiving them. The send process refers to messages sent from
®
GroupWise
to Exchange; the receive process refers to messages sent from Exchange to
GroupWise.
The default send/receive cycle is 120 seconds, which causes the gateway to send messages for a
maximum of 60 seconds and then receive messages for 60 seconds. You can adjust the send/receive
cycle to better suit your environment and needs. You can also adjust some additional time-related
settings for the gateway.
