6.2 Applying Power to the Drive
Before applying power to the drive, verify that the drive and any associated equipment is ready for operation. Refer to the
Checklist. For detailed commissioning and programming information, refer to the VLT® AutomationDrive FC 301/302 Programming Guide.
UNINTENDED START
When the drive is connected to the AC mains, DC supply, or load sharing, the motor may start at any time, causing risk of
death, serious injury, and equipment or property damage. The motor may start by activation of an external switch, a fieldbus
command, an input reference signal from the LCP or LOP, via remote operation using MCT 10 setup software, or after a cleared
fault condition.
Press [Off] on the LCP before programming parameters.
l
Disconnect the drive from the mains whenever personal safety considerations make it necessary to avoid unintended motor
l
start.
Check that the drive, motor, and any driven equipment are in operational readiness.
l
1.
Confirm that the input voltage is balanced within 3%. If not, correct the input voltage imbalance before proceeding. Repeat this
procedure after the voltage correction.
2.
Ensure that any optional equipment wiring matches the installation application.
3.
Ensure that all operator devices are in the [OFF] position.
4.
Ensure that panel doors are closed and covers securely fastened.
5.
Apply power to the drive.
Do not start the drive now. For units with a disconnect switch, turn the switch to [ON] to apply power to the drive.
