Configure Computer or Peripheral Devices

Select the "Configure Computer or Peripheral Devices" option under the following cir-
cumstances:
n
you are setting up the system for the first time
n
the "Invalid Configuration Information" message appears at power-on.
If this message appears, run the Setup utility to correct any configuration errors.
If you receive an "EISA Configuration NVRAM Bad - Run Configuration utility
- F2 to Run Setup" message, run Setup first, then the ECU utility.
n
you add or remove an expansion board
n
you installed a PCI, EISA, ISA, or Plug and Play device
n
you want to change board functions or resources
n
you want to view switch and jumper settings for a specific board
n
you replaced the RTC/battery module in the system and need to set the system
parameters.
If you installed an EISA or ISA board and you select "Configure Computer or Peripheral
Devices," the ECU might display an "Automatic Add" screen with a request for a configu-
ration (CFG) file.
The ECU displays this screen if it needs a configuration (CFG) file for the installed board.
If the screen appears, remove the ECU diskette and insert the diskette containing the CFG
file. Press
and follow the screen prompts to automatically add the required CFG file.
Enter
If the ECU does not need any configuration files, it displays a menu with five steps for
configuring your computer:
Step 1: Important EISA configuration information — provides EISA configuration infor-
mation.
Step 2: Add or remove boards — configures the system for the addition or removal of an
expansion board to or from the system.
NOTE: EISA and ISA boards require CFG files
for system configuration. The board manufac-
turer supplies the CFG file for an EISA board.
Some ISA boards also come with a CFG file. If
you have an ISA board that does not have a CFG
file, see "ISA Boards without CFG Files" in this
section.
