Dual Processor Troubleshooting

If a fault occurs at power-on, verify that the installation was performed correctly. One
beep indicates that the computer has completed its power-on self-test. If intermittent
beeping occurs, turn off the computer and try again. If the beeping persists, see Section 4,
Maintenance and Troubleshooting.
Table Section 3-2 summarizes problems that may develop after installing a dual processor
and lists in sequential order suggested corrective actions.

SIMM Configurations

The SIMM kits install into SIMM sockets on the memory expansion board. The computer
supports 1MB x 36, 2Mx26, 4Mx36, and 8Mx36, 70 ns or 60 ns SIMM modules. Each kit
is inserted into a pair of "by 36" SIMM sockets or banks. The memory board's four SIMM
sockets are assigned as banks 0, 1, 2, and 3 (see Figure Section 3-9). . Different size SIMM
upgrade kits may be intermixed, although SIMM sticks within a bank must be the same
size and speed. For interleaving, install the same capacity SIMM kits in two banks.
The standard memory shipped with the system is pre-installed into bank 0 (sockets J1 and
J5). Sockets J4 and J8 form bank 1, sockets J2 and J3 form bank 2, and sockets J7 and J6
form bank 3.
