Appendix D — Setup Parameters (IPL)

Setup Description

The printer's Setup parameters are used to set the printer's
operational behavior. "Changing Configuration Settings" on
page 44, explains how to view or change the parameters, and this
is also explained in the IPL Programmer's Reference Manual.
Note: The recommended way to set your printer's
configuration parameters is to use the PrintSet 4
program, which is included on the PrinterCompanion
CD. PrintSet 4 can communicate with your printer
either via a serial cable or a network connection.

About Test labels

Test labels that give detailed information about the printer's
software, hardware and network settings can be printed in
testmode or extended testmode, but also by sending commands
through the terminal window. For example, the following
commands print a software configuration label, and then resets
the printer in programming mode:
<STX><ESC>T;s<ETX>
<STX><ESC>P<ETX>
Please refer to the IPL Programmer's Reference Manual for more
information on how to print test labels.

Serial Communication Setup

The serial communication parameters control the
communication between the printer and the connected computer
or other devices on the standard serial port.
Make sure the printer's communication parameters match the
setup of the connected device or vice versa. If the setup of the
printer and the setup of the host do not match, the response from
the printer to host will be garbled.
Baud Rate
The baud rate is the transmission speed in bits per second. There
are 10 options:
• 1200
• 2400
80
